They met when they were both contract teachers at Zhonghua Primary School in 2009.

The following year, Mr Samuel Chan, 26, and Miss Iris Lee, 24, entered the National Institute of Education (NIE) where their love would blossom as they spent four years studying together.

Now engaged to be married, the couple both graduated yesterday. Their time at NIE was so special that they held their wedding photo shoot there.

"We would be in the library studying together, or in the cafe sharing a drink," said Ms Lee, now an English and mathematics teacher at Xinmin Primary School in Hougang.

Mr Chan, who teaches at Yangzheng Primary School in Serangoon, added: "Sometimes, in the midst of rushing deadlines, we forget why we chose to be teachers in the first place. That's when we motivate each other."

The couple will tie the knot on Sept 13.
