A NEW addition to the line-up of the OCBC Cycle Singapore event will let cyclists raise funds for the Dover Park Hospice.

Next year, the inaugural Business Times Corporate Charity Ride will feature as part of the cycling fiesta.

It will take place on March 4.

Companies will be able to send teams of four cyclists to take part in the 39km charity challenge.

Some $2,750 from the entry fee of $3,300 per team will be donated to the hospice, while the rest will go towards registration fees.

The Dover Park Hospice provides palliative care to patients with terminal illnesses, and also supports their families.

Mr Alvin Tay, editor of The Business Times (BT), said: 'The hospice cause is not one that comes naturally to many people. But at BT, we recognise the increasing need for palliative care as Singapore ages.

'It is not just about caring for the patients, but also providing support and comfort to their families and caregivers. We hope to do our part not only in raising funds for the cause, but also in spreading this message.'

Into its fourth year, OCBC Cycle Singapore will be held from March 2-4 next year.

The highlight of the event is the OCBC Cycle Singapore Professional Criterium, which will see more than 60 local and international professional riders pit their skills on a 1.6km flood-lit route around the F1 Pit Building.

The race will be televised live across the Asia-Pacific region.
