Art Stage Singapore, the high-end contemporary art fair, will kick off the art season next year.

To be held at the Marina Bay Sands Exhibition and Convention Centre from Jan 24 to 27, it is expected to draw about 130 art galleries from around the world.

Details are being finalised and fair director Lorenzo Rudolf expects to announce names of some participating galleries by the end of this month.

As in the past two editions, Singapore's most high-profile art fair will feature well-known artists and galleries predominantly from Asia.

It has presented works by several leading artists including American celebrity photographer David LaChapelle, Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami, avant-garde Indian artist Anish Kapoor as well as top Chinese contemporary artists Ai Weiwei and Cai Guoqiang.

At the same time, the fair has created platforms for Asian and local talent showcasing works by Singapore artists such as Michael Lee, Robert Zhao and the art collective Vertical Submarine.
