READERS can now search for items or services on The Straits Times (ST) Classified on their phones.
The ST Classified app, which was relaunched yesterday, now allows readers to search for items or services quickly and easily on its e- paper version.
For instance, if a person is looking for plumbing services, he can search using the keyword "plumbing" and all advertisements containing this word will be highlighted.
Mr Leslie Fong, senior executive vice-president of Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) Marketing Division, said in a press release that while newspapers face challenges from digital advertising, which is seen as a cheaper alternative, print advertisements will still be relevant if they are made "exciting and impactful".
"The introduction of this new service is an example of how we make use of technology to enable our print advertisers to reach out to an even larger audience easily...
"You can even forward the ads with ease for family members, staff or friends to follow up on the leads," Mr Fong added.
Mr Tan Ooi Boon, head of SPH Print Classified, said the new service emphasises the team's mission to help customers and readers "find, buy and sell" their products easily.
Those who have previously downloaded the app can upgrade it to enjoy the new service.
Users may download the app on Apple App Store using keywords "SPH Classified".
Readers who have queries can call 6319-5900 or write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
