The school holidays are almost upon us. That usually means it is time to go on an overseas trip to unwind and relax.

But before you do, visit the IT Show 2012 to grab the digital cameras, video camcorders, ultrabooks and other gadgets you'll want to take along on your vacation.

With a record-breaking number of more than 830 exhibitors, IT Show 2012 will definitely have something for everyone in your family, from tablets to keep your kids occupied during those long car trips, to photo printers to print out beautiful reminders of a wonderful holiday.

Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft and Fujitsu will be among the major exhibitors at the show this year. The show, now in its 11th instalment, was supposed to have taken up 345,000 sq ft of exhibition space. When all of it was booked, Exhibits Inc, the show's organiser, expanded the show to 350,000 sq ft.

Now, the exhibition area is bigger than four football fields.

Exhibits Inc's general manager, Mr Melvin Koh, said: 'To improve consumers' experience, the IT Show 2012 floor plans will be available online.'

He expects the show to receive 840,000 visitors this year, compared to last year's turnout of 830,000. That amounts to about 17 per cent of Singapore's population.

Overall sales are expected to exceed $75 million this year. Visitors to the 2010 IT show spent

$67.5 million; and last year's visitors spent $72 million.

And here is another reason to brave the crowds this year. You may win some cash prizes in addition to picking up freebies with some of your gadget purchases.

For the first time, there will be a giveaway of more than $90,000 in cash over the four days. Every $100 you spend during the show entitles you to a lucky draw coupon.

An hourly draw will be conducted at level 6 of Suntec Singapore from 1 to 9pm daily. There will be four winners every hour for this lucky draw and each winner will receive $500 in cash.

Even if you do not win in these hourly draws, you will still be eligible for the grand draw on the last day. A grand prize of $10,000 awaits one lucky winner.

So, do some homework by reading our writers' tips, put on some comfortable shoes, get your credit cards ready and prepare to hit the exhibition floors.
