There was a time when gadgets were loved by only the geeks and nerds. Now, everyone has a gadget or two.

Just look around you. Most people own a smartphone, kids haul tablets around and every holidaymaker has a digital camera.

Virtually every home with school-going kids has a desktop PC or a laptop - or both - and a printer.

Are you thinking of updating either of those?

And if you think your living room could do with a new 3-D LED TV, well, head down to this year's Comex exhibition.

This one-stop-shop event from Aug 30 to Sept 2 at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre is Singapore's biggest IT and consumer technology exhibition. It promises a large range of the latest gadgets with exclusive offers and great bargains.

"The Comex Show has been at the forefront of showcasing the latest innovations, whether they are IT, mobile or digital electronics," says MrMelvin Koh, general manager of Exhibits Inc, the show's organiser.

With over 830 exhibitors at the show, you can be sure there is something for everyone.

Asus, Canon, Samsung and Toshiba are among the major exhibitors at the show this year.

Comex 2012, in its 18th year, will take up 330,000 sq ft of exhibition space and span three levels at Suntec Singapore.

A day spent just browsing in the area it occupies, which is more than five football fields combined, would fulfil your exercise quota.

With 4m-wide walkways in each hall, you no longer have to squeeze your way around.

Mr Koh expects 850,000 visitors this year, compared to last year's 835,000, which means more than 17 per cent of Singapore's population will walk the show floors over the four days.

Overall sales are expected to reach around $75million this year. Last year's event recorded sales of $73 million.

There is an incentive for customers to spend more as there will be cash giveaways - totalling more than $90,000 - over the four days.

For every $100 paid or deposit placed during the show, you will get a lucky draw coupon.

An hourly draw will be conducted at level 6 (Hall 602 entrance) of Suntec Singapore from 12noon to 9pm daily. There will be four winners every hour and each winner will receive $500 in cash.

Even if you miss out on the hourly draws, you will still be eligible for the grand draw on the last day, in which $10,000 await the lucky winner.

So, take your time to read our writers' tips, remember to put on comfortable shoes, get your credit cards ready and make everyone in the family happy.
