The sweet sounds of a good cause About 300 Indian expatriates and Singapore businessmen were treated to song and dance performances

About 300 Indian expatriates and Singapore businessmen were treated to song and dance performances at a networking dinner yesterday, attended by Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

Earlier in the day, a golf game was also held at the same venue, the Singapore Island Country Club, with about 100 players taking part. Both were organised by three Singapore Press Holdings publications: Tabla, a weekly freesheet for Indian expatriates, Tamil-language daily Tamil Murasu and Golf Digest Singapore.

Around $19,000 was raised at a charity auction at the dinner for the Singapore Indian Education Trust, which supports needy Singaporean Indian children through financial aid and mentorship.
