Chingay 2014 to showcase Singapore's largest batik painting, works by local artistes

Measuring 360m by 10m, the painting will have 130 panels featuring flower motifs including Singapore's very own national flower. The painting was put together by some 40,000 Singaporeans and new immigrants.
Chief executive director of the People's Association Ang Hak Seng said on Wednesday at a media conference that next year's parade opening will also involve the work of local artistes here.
For example, the opening song entitled "Paint with One Heart," will be composed by famous local music director Goh Kheng Long and poet Pan Cheng Lui. Mr Goh is the music director for renowned artistes like Wang Leehom and David Tao. Others like percussionist Riduan Zalani, last year's Singapore Youth Award recipient, will also be involved in co-creating the parade's opening.
